Veterinary Medicine was organized as the Department of Veterinary Medicine in 1952.
It became the College of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 when it separated from the College of Agriculture.
In 1997, the 6-year educational system in the College of Veterinary Medicine was introduced. Since 1955, 1,580 men and women have been granted the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
The College of Veterinary Medicine set up a sisterly relationship with Murdoch University, located in Australia in 1995.
Since then, the college has built a similar relationship with Universidad Austral de Chile (Chile), and Nippon Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science (Japan) and has had professor and student exchange programs and common research projects with them.
There has never been a more exciting time to be associated with veterinary medicine. Our department is committed to improving the quality of service to you and we encourage your comments, questions, and requests.
